THE ART OF GIVING

THE ART OF GIVING: Thanks for stopping by and getting involved in this great opportunity. In starting off the new year, Christine and I decided to put together a challenge blog that would not only provide you with inspiration and free goodies, but to also let you know about the many ways we can "PAY IT FORWARD" to others in our lives...in simple and GIGANTIC ways. We hope that in combining both inspiration and giving to others, we can all make this world a better place, one layout, card, and gesture at a time. Thank you for taking this journey with us.

It's Clearly Simple

Monday, July 20, 2009

Well HELLO there friends and fellow scrappy followers. We had to take a quick little hiatus due to vacations and some minor life's challenges demanding attention....but WE ARE BACK!

We have a new challenge coming to you! It is called...It's Clearly Simple. We have some fun prizes that are clearly divine. If you get your challenges in by Thurday, August 6th..you'll be in the clear.

Okay so...did you all get my silly attempt at giving you a clue? Well if not, here it goes. Your challenge this time around is to create a project (layout, altered item, card, whatever you can think of) with clear materials. This could be acetate sheets, clear buttons, glossy acccents, a clear clipboard, clear alphas (lke Maya Road or Heidi Swaap) a clear paint can or whatever else that you can surprise us with. Please link us to your project in your post! Did I make that clear? Sorry I just couldn't resist. :0)

The second part of our challenge is the human aspect of it all. Often we have so many people in our lives that we care for and maybe it is clear to us how we feel about them, or how we are very grateful for what they do....but have you made that clear to your special person in mind? This could be a friend, a teacher, a family member, a neighbor, a postal carrier, your pastor... I don't know..you tell us..who is this person and why? Next, make it clear to them how very grateful you are to them, how you appreciate something that they do etc. Then share your story about it in your post, along with a link to the project that you made. Simple words and gestures can make a world of difference and this is an easy thing to do..so have at it!

Now... what you have been waiting for....the prizes. Right? We didn't forget!
Two lucky winners will receive a pack of 4 6x6 sheets of Grafix Clear Craft Plastic and a clear stamp.

These sheets are very versatile and fun! You can stamp on them, emboss, paint, apply glitter, ribbon, tape, punch holes and add brads or eyelets in them and much more. Here are a few ideas from Illyse and Myself :0)

So we will be waiting to hear from you and see what crafty goodness that you will be coming up with! We just can't wait.

And on another note..It is time for me to make something very CLEAR to two special people in my life. Illyse and Jenn who are part of this wonderful team. I love you both for being such good friends to me, for being there in my time of need, for making me laugh at everything, for making this blog a reality, for sharing my excitement for all things, for listening, for laughing, for friendship. Girls..you both seriously ROCK!...and I don't use that term loosely ;0)

Ronald McDonald House Challenge

Monday, May 18, 2009

Well It's that time again friends. We have a new and simple challenge. Our focus this challenge is for ailing children and their families. We will be supporting the Ronald McDonald House. If you are unaware of what the Ronald McDonald house is, here is a description of their services taken from their website:

The Orange County Ronald McDonald House :

The idea behind the Orange County Ronald McDonald House is simple: provide a comfortable and affordable “home away from home” for families shouldering the burdens associated with a child who is being treated at a nearby hospital. Some children must travel great distances to get the medical attention they need. Hospital treatments may last a day, a month or more than a year. For the families of these children, affordable accommodations are few and far between. Often, they are limited to costly hotels or unforgiving hospital chairs. The Orange County Ronald McDonald House offers a comfortable, supportive and affordable alternative for these families. It’s a temporary home near their child’s hospital where they can sleep, eat, relax and find encouragement from others. It is much more than just a nice place to stay. It helps to anchor families in very trying times. It can reduce stress by providing a venue where people can talk things out with others who are wrestling with the same issues.

This challenge is sponsored by Bam POP and Illyse one of our Fabulous designers! Thank you bunches! The prizes for this challenge include: 2 sets BAM POP chipboard sentence bubbles and a set of Chipboard Heidi Swaap frames. Let's here it for our sponsors...WOOHOO!

Now on to the challenges. It seems so often the little things in life we often unintentionally take for granted. As parents we often live vicariously through our children's joyful moments. It is important that we cherish each and every moment with them. When unexpected illnesses or injuries occur to one of our children, it can turn a our lives upside down. Therefore Our layout challenge (Challenge one)is a simple one! We want it to focus on your children or a special child in your life... Show us a layout...any layout of a child/children enjoying themselves with smiling faces! Perhaps a special moment or even just being goofy..you pick..whatever brings you joy when you look at it is the right choice!

Here are the Design team's sample layouts!

Jenn

Christine

Illyse

Challenge Two: Oh my this is EASY! Now you soda drinkers before you trash that soda can, pull of that tab and set it aside. Collect as many soda tabs as you can and send them our way! Yes it is true..they are worth something to us...well actually they are worth something to the Ronald McDonald house. You see, they are recyclable and....we can turn them in to a recycling center who will in turn write a check to The Ronald McDonald house. It is a win win situation! You recycle and do the earth some good and we send a check to the Ronald McDonald house for the recycling dollars raised!

***Remember. We do not need the entire can..ONLY THE TABS :0)

And..as usual, do one challenge, get one entry into the raffle, complete two challenges, get two entries into the raffle for our fun chipboard prizes. This challenge starts today Monday May 18th and will resume Sunday June 7th. Winners will be announced on June 8th! Please pass our website/challenge on to your friends and make sure to leave a post in this thread to be included in the raffle. Please contact us with any questions and/or our mailing addy to send us the soda tabs! Thanks and have a wonderful week!
